Inside Line Promotions – LEXINGTON, Neb. (July 10, 2018) – A few weeks ago Zach Blurton purchased new shocks and the difference has been nothing short of phenomenal. He has scored three straight podium finishes and he recorded his third win of the season on Sunday at Dawson County Raceway.
The victory goes with a runner-up finish at the Belleville High Banks in Belleville, Kan., on July 3 and a third-place result last Saturday at Lincoln County Speedway in North Platte, Neb.
“I’m really getting these shocks figured out,” he said. “We have a win, a second and a third in the last three races on three completely different tracks.”
On Saturday at Lincoln County Raceway, a runner-up finish in his heat race put Blurton fourth in the A Main starting lineup.
“The track took rubber in hot laps so there was pretty much no passing,” he said. “I got around one car and finished third.”
A runner-up result in a heat race lined Blurton up third in the main event on Sunday at Dawson County Raceway.
“We had the wrong gear in for the heat so we changed that and by feature time the track has really slicked off,” he said. “When the feature started the outside front row guy didn’t take off and the polesitter went right to the top and left the bottom open for me. The modifieds had chewed up the bottom prior to our feature and the moisture started to come out. The car was pretty good and I was really never challenged for the win.”
Blurton became the first repeat winner of 2018 with the United Rebel Sprint Series and he also extended his point lead as he looks to score a second straight championship.
Up next is RPM Speedway in Hays, Kan., for the Wheatshocker Nationals this Saturday and Sunday.
“We won that race three years ago and with how the car has been handling I can’t wait to get back there,” he said. “They always work on the track and give us a pretty good surface to race on.”
